Your questions
Are Martha’s Vineyard rentals weekly?
In summer, most homes rent by the week, often Saturday to Saturday, and many require a seven-night minimum in July and August. Shorter stays are easier to find in spring and fall. Each listing shows its own rules.
What is included in a Vineyard vacation rental?
It depends on the home. Each of our listings shows what’s provided, from linens and towels to beach gear. If something matters to you, ask us before you book.
What taxes are charged on a Martha’s Vineyard rental?
Massachusetts room occupancy tax of 11.7% (5.7% state and 6% local) applies to stays of 31 nights or fewer, including cleaning and similar fees. Oak Bluffs adds a 2.75% Water Protection Fund excise on stays from October 1, 2026, for 14.45% there. Our prices show the tax before you book.
Is there a security deposit?
Many homes require a refundable security deposit or a damage waiver. The terms for each home are shown before you book.
Can I get beach passes as a renter?
Yes. In towns with residents-and-renters beaches, such as Chilmark, West Tisbury and Aquinnah, renters buy passes with a copy of their lease. See our beach guide.
Are pets allowed?
Some homes welcome dogs with the owner’s approval, usually with a pet fee. Use the filters on our homes page or ask us.
Do I need a car on Martha’s Vineyard?
Not if you stay down-island in Edgartown, Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven: buses, bikes and taxis cover it. Up-island, a car is easier. See getting around.
How far ahead should I book?
For July and August, as early as you can: many families rebook their week for next summer in the fall. June and September have more flexibility.
What if something breaks during my stay?
